    SMM...What you say about the health of the australian economy is true but that does not protect our market when the US market drops so much.
    In this current downturn(not crash) the asx has fallen more than the djia. and yet they are the ones having all the subprime problems and slowing economy. We seem to be worrying more than them about their problems, The ASX of late has even gone down on the few days that the US has risen and imo,defies logic.
    Market sentiment here is playing a huge role in proceedings.
    However,whilst I think the next 6 months could be quite rough,even with a few short rallies along the way, I think the latter part of the year we will see things settle down a bit.
    I don't think we will see a crash any time soon.
    Much different to 1987... no irrational exhuberance evident and too much fear and talk about a crash of late.
    As in 1987, a crash comes without warning...too much fear and pessimism at the moment.
    It will take a genius to pick the bottom for this year.
