I dont know what is so hard to understand about selling shares for tax purposes. I made a small fortune on CDU & SDL, then rolled all the money without withholding tax and put it all on PRR. Since then the price of PRR went to its high where I sold and then fell allowing me to buy back more for my money. Since then they have fallen much further and I am left with a sizeable tax bill and my shares are sitting at a loss. I have two options. Sell some PRR shares or pay back the ATO in instalments. I have chosen the later because my income allows it.
Its not that hard to understand if you have ever been in a similar position.
