No excuses from me diligent. The fact is that that period of recreational out of control drug use put the WCE back the best part of ten years. It now looks like the Essendon supplements/cheating scandal will put them back a similar period unless they can get Worsfold to wave his magic wand. The people like Cousins, Fletcher, Gardner and Chick and their ilk irrespective of what club they belong to need to be responsible for their own actions. So stop blaming Worsfold and Malthouse. Chris Mainwaring hadn't played AFL since 1999 so don't blame Malthouse or anybody else for his subsequent death 8 years later. He also should have and was responsible for his own behaviour and actions resulting in his untimely death. Mainy loved coming to our district during his time off footy to surf our Boranup surf break and then have a few, sometimes a few to many beers with us locals at the Karridale Tavern. It was on one of those trips he incurred his first DUI getting pulled over in Busselton on the way back to Perth. A wonderful larrikin that was and still is loved by many here in the West.
Oh and by the way, is there no one in the East who runs of the rails, takes drugs or becomes a colourful crook Lol!
