Update on Malaysian Bauxite Mining Halt.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has charged two Pahang Land and Mines Department officials with three counts of corruption related to illegal bauxite mining in the state.
.All the charges are under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009 and are each punishable with a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and a fine up to five times of the amount involved in the alleged act of bribery.
Both of them pleaded not guilty, MACC said.
The duo were among nine land officers and civilians MACC arrested recently over the bauxite mining issue.
