There is no correllation, nor should there be. If it were that easy, we'd all be rich. The like count only signifies that a lot of users agree with the sentiment put forth in that particular post. There is a correlation between the popularity of a poster and the amount of likes they receive which is normal. Regards to point a) I say Good! That's the way it should be. If people invested on research based on the most liked posts they will stand to lose a lot of money. I've followed quite a lot of 'popular' stocks in the last 12 months which frequent the list where the SP has gone no where, ie FAR, ESI, PLS just to name a few. Don't get me wrong, the potential is there but again no correlation between the two.

I disagree. If you haven't seen what everyone else can, (or at least some people can) you're not confident enough, (or know enough to be confident enough). HC has terms and conditions for a reason. People say in their posts to "do your own research" and "this is not financial advice" etc because it should'nt be taken as advice. Everyone has thier own risk appetite and should'nt base thier investment on on someone else's research and if they do, it's up to them and they should know what they stand to lose/gain.

The latest post from TA isn't to spruik investors or to ramp. It's to share information and research for new investors or those who don't keep up with the threads on HC and who come and ask the same questions and drum up a discussion that's already been had. And although I don't always agree with TA, I find his contributions invaluable just like a lot of users in these threads. Without these users and without such discourse we'd be no where with the types of announcements we've recieved in the past from IAM.

There is no correllation. Just hopeful investors. Like IAM, their zealous posters probably see that there is value to be had and are awaiting for traders, instos and other investors to buy up thier shares for more than they bought. This is just the way the game is.

I absolutely agree that investors are responsible for the information they base their decisions upon and that they should not rely on HC posters.
However, I for one am very grateful to those HC posters who can summarise a set of facts in a coherent way and can guide you to the places where you can DYOR most fruitfully.
It saves many people a lot of time and there is also something to be said for piggybacking off the experience and knowledge of those who know what they're talking about.
But yes, in the end the buck stops on your desk and in your bank account.
