I think the original idea of 20 pearls per launch was before the the design of the launch tube was finalised, it may have been envisioned to carry 10. This has been confirmed to take 8 pearls, it makes sense to use full tubes, therefore multiples of 8, ie 16, 24 or 32. I don't know how many launch tubes the pod can carry, perhaps someone can confirm this, and if we get an entire pod or have to share it.
