    OK so having a look at the Boyd to Oates "forward pass" again, Oates was behind Boyd when Boyd passed it.

    So you could enforce a rule with sensors that says the receiving player must be behind the passing player when the ball leaves the hands.

    But that still leaves room for players to pass the ball well forward and take advantage of it.

    But I do see what you mean Nicky about the momentum of the player passing the ball.
