Slight correction: The post doesn't say that evoliscope can monitor hair. The post says that "using our evoliscope we can monitor hair".

I don't want to disappoint you. But to my understanding, evoliscope is what advangen just named their combination of a digital USB microscope and hair analysis software, used to measure hair density and growth, and maybe other hair properties. I think they use it at exhibitions and shows and in-store events to allow people to see their hair and scalp. They likely also use it in their scientific research, but I doubt they have gone into device or software development.

In general, a digital microscope is a pretty common device, there are ones with low resolution and ones with high resolution down to micrometer scale. I assume they are using the latter as the hair diameter is measured in microns (micrometres). You can buy a USB microscope yourself for $20 or you go for professional grade ones that can set you back over $1000.

So evoliscope might just be a re-branded device they use at events to magnify hair for people interested in the hair products (as a means to explain the science behind them), or it could be software/device combo that contains proprietary functionality for the specific purpose of measuring/monitoring hair in their research process. We don't know that. I would assume, however, that Cellmid/Advangen would have announced anything ground-breaking to the market. And as there are companies specialised on these sort of things, I would think a microscope is a fairly common device in hair science.

Speaking of AI, if it is collecting hair data into a database and performs some data analysis along a pre-programmed algorithm (e.g. compare hair densities from different points in time) then it is likely a tool they use in their scientific research, but it would not qualify as AI without some machine learning capabilities.
