If AUSTRAC want to save any sort of credibility they will need to Settle - and do it fast at about $500m (their best in my view).
Conversely, if Westpac were to hold out to litigate there will be a day of reckoning whereby the Judiciary will show their utter contempt for an Inept poorly run QANGO that AUSTRAC is on the Wespac matters ...
Interesting, to see if Westpac counter-claims against the lawyers drumming up the Class Actions …
Their claims may be spurious and ill-founded - BUT their damage to Westpac's reputation and a competitive Banking Sector is FACT !!
