Always assumed there were two main reasons for release of engineering samples first.
Firstly, for due diligence (verification and testing) of the finished silicon, by not only BRN and if all goes well, by their big potential Tier-1 customers.
And secondly, for brand new technology the production of eng. samples first, I would assume is mandatory. Would further assume that if the Co plans to have a final wholesale price of around $10 per chip, funding for this level of production would only be on the back of probably 2 or more Tier- 1 agreements locked in.
Only my opinion.
