Sounds to me like Bob Swan is having a shot at Donald Trump over his bringing of TSMC onto US shores to produce chips rather than injecting capital into Intel and making it harder for overseas companies to get their chips into US products.

Lots of things Donald does seem to lack strategic planning but when the TSMC factory in the US was announced as a result of Donald's threats to embargo TSMC if they did not bring production to the US it struck me as very strange given that the largest chip manufacturer in the world is the US owned Intel.

Clearly Bob Swan thinks so to and a Republican Senate attempt to remedy the situation with subsidies is not cutting the mustard. A lot of intelligent people clearly think there is more to being President of the US than being able to do a come over and sell real estate.

Prime opportunity for Scomo to come to the rescue and offer Intel a ten year tax break and a hole range of subsidies to bring its production of chips to Australia the home of the worlds first AGI chip.
