We did this challenge between the 1st July '15 to 30th June '16. But instead of it being just consumables it was every cent we ever spent relating to us (not business wise though).
If you keep it in a spreadsheet think about it now rather than later but try and itemise what you spend it on etc... As if you do it now it will be less work if you do it later on. Below was our list.
When you itemise each thing out you can see where "improvement" is needed, rather than just seeing you spent in the month of XXX:
$489.93 at Woolworths
$210.76 at Coles
Have taken out the mortgage / House/shed renos and Dogs operation as if they were left there it skews the chart to just see those items and nothing else.
