This topic is an interesting one. What is Anteo's vision. Some posters will say the current board has changed the vision and the approach of the company.
For those that have been around for awhile they know history demonstrates that that Anteo has always looked at point of care as being a key market. BBI was a first commercial endeavour in that direction. The notion that the more nano the environment the greater the opportunity for Anteo technology to demonstrate its value proposition.
The notion of Anteo technology being useful in multiple fields of endeavour has been around for a very long time as well. Geoff talked about this as early as 2012. If anyone looks back to 2014 you will see that the battery program has been functional since then. Note looking at presentations by Geoff in 2015 Anteo knew it had potential solutions for the Anode, as a Binder and for the Cathode.
So what is different between then and now? Certainly not the markets nor the offering.
There are the following key differences:
- The knowledge and experience of how to use the technology has matured. Charlie is now the holder of the plan for overseeing the technology. He is much more methodical than Joe in how to develop the technology moving forward.
- The POC market is now ready for quantitative tests (previously gold was the basis of most POC tests and it is yes/no technology). Quantum dots, which Anteo has worked on since 2012, europium 2015 and plastics 2014 provide an ability to provide florescence and multiplexing.
- Anteo Technology had to prove itself against well established tests that had been optimised for many years and were difficult to exceed by the degree necessary to compel an update. The hurdle being why get a new better tap-washer when the current one works OK,
- The experience and maturity (iso -13485) of the scientific group means the subtleties of working with these nano formats are well known by Anteo.
- This knowledge base when stepped out into other fields is providing solutions there - hence the progress in batteries that again is building on the experience in that area.
Today Anteo is now capable of delivering when previously it believed it could and with the right partner would have.Essentially the vision has not changed the scientific maturity has and the market opportunities have.
Lastly, an important aspect that has not come out in the Covid debate. It is something Derek pointed to the other day. Sepsis is a far more important test than Covid in the long term. Even more important is that Anteo, a small company, with limited access to key materials such as antibodies, antigens and clinical samples, has developed two tests in the time it would take most companies, with many more resources utilised, to get half way on one test. Plus it will have suffered delays in getting materials that the likes of Abbott do not experience.
The Anteo technology has demonstrated this year it is capable of producing highly sensitive accurate tests quickly and economically. Once the life sciences market place appreciates this fact demand for Anteo and its technology will increase significantly.
