The ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) alone is a very lengthy and time consuming procedure.
Orocobre started their ESIA procedure in 2010, when it presented its first environmental report.
The project was not approved until 2012.
The plant started operating in 2015.
In 2016 the production was 11,845 tonnes of LCE.
Stage 2 expansion was announced in 2018.
