    Good question @thebunningsguy.....What I do is to ask the the following questions to myself;
    1. Why did I invest originally? (short term, long term, expectation of dividends)
    2. Has the company reached the optimum point or has it got potential to increase the return significantly?
    3. Have I got any urgent need for cash?
    4. Have I got any alternate investment opportunities that could give me higher return?
    5. Do I see any major risks in the future?

    Once answers are known to the above then the decision becomes easier.
