How would they be “forced” to supply the Chinese? There is certainly a possibility to supply them, if this is seen to be the best outcome for Lake - but I don’t see their hand being forced to do so. I also don’t see this relating directly to limited finance options through Export Credit Agencies.
Discussion of a battery manufacturing plant in Argentina is certainly interesting but I see Ganfeng/LAC being the most likely supplier there - with Ganfeng holding the controlling interest. If anyone is going to have their hand forced in this situation (if/when it eventuates) I think it may be LAC. LAC will just have to make sure they supply part of the US supply chain through Thacker Pass!
