I remember a John Cleese story about his first trip to Germany after the success of Faulty Towers and he was very concerned about how his humour might have been received. He claims as he was standing at reception waiting to register a very German looking chap jumped up from the lounge in the foyer and ran towards him and suddenly shout out "Don't mention the war." and burst out laughing and wanted his autograph. Needless to say he was well received everywhere he went after this initial experience.
But you have to ask yourself do I think I am as funny as John Cleese, punk.
