The reality is that no one has any idea what any company will be worth in five years but history tells us that our present view of what constitutes success is often limited by an inability to see the big picture no matter how high we climb.
Four hundred odd years ago the Dutch East India Company was worth in today’s money 7.8 trillion dollars. It dominated just about everything, raised its own private armies to protect its markets and ruled commercially for 100 years. Some historians cite it as the company which started globalisation.
Does anyone have the view that Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Berkshire Hathaway, Amazon or Tesla will still be around in 100 years and continue to be the dominant market leader/s.
If you don’t then the next logical question is who and what will replace them and why?
The reality is though no one knows but who or whatever it is that will replace them but it will be unexpected by 99.9% of so called sophisticated and retail investors.
