Appreciate the sincerity o[f your question, but I have to say that I find Musk's hypocrisy almost of biblical proportions.
Here is an industry leader who has been talking up autonomous vehicles loudly, incessantly and (it appears) with excess optimism ever since (and before) the first version of Tesla Autopilot was released.
He has in recent weeks gone on record to say that achieving L5 of vehicle autonomy is "very, very hard."
Is he sensing that (with CNN) he has gone too hard too early and hence wants to stop the world (temporarily) so he can reset his autopilot?
No tin hat required, imo.
