Anil Mankar, chief development officer, told eeNews Europe: "Chip production volume is just starting now. But you will see a lot of IP licensing going forward." He added: "We are process agnostic."

The near-term focus is supplying the Akida IP to 22nm although some customers may go back to 90nm process, Akida executives said.

Tensor, Google's new custom SoC for the Pixel 6 series, is alleged to be built on Samsung's 5 nm node

Google's new custom-made chipset, Tensor, will power the Pixel 6 series. Not much was revealed about the manufacturing behind Tensor, but a new report indicates that it's built on Samsung's 5 nm node. The Snapdragon 888 also is, and has gained a reputation for overheating.

This has increased my ambivilence a bit. Google are making Tensor for Pixel 6 in 5 nm, while BRN are focussing near-term on 22 nm. Not that Google couldn't shrink our Akida IP, but ... ?

Who would want to go back to 90 nm, unless you wanted a crash-proof NN processor? There will be both a time penalty and a power penalty. But those pesky ionizing particles maybe won't be such a problem.

PS: Interesting that Snapdragon in 5 nm is said to overheat, maybe they could sub in an Akida IP block to reduce the procesor load.
