As you would know the Oak Ridge National Laboratory had a Thorium reactor running for years in the 60/70's. One big advantage Thorium has is no water cooling required. The last heat wave to hit Europe saw France mothball some nuclear plants for a time because the water in the cooling ponds was becoming too warm to cool the reactors.
Just to tie this back in to BRN (sort of).....
Oak Ridge have been hosting the International Conference on Neuromorphic Systems (ICONS) for the last few years. Also super computing and national security (cybersecurity)
