'sfunny. I remember when they put up Hubble in 1990 and found out it had astigmatism or myopia or somesuch, and we had a discussion about it round the lunch table at work . I suggested (and was roundly pilloried for my trouble) that it would be possible to correct the blurring by assessing the pixels surrounding a pixel to try to account for the slight out-of-focus light which landed on the adjacent pixels.
Now, in a slightly different context, the filters of Fig 13 are evaluating the adjacent pixels of a pixel under consideration.
