The following link is interesting if you have taken the time to understand the science and engineering principles underpinning Electric Vehicle driving range.
In very simple terms every battery you build to power an electric vehicle has mass and weight. As such when you put it in an Electric Vehicle of the 100% of the power which it stores even before the battery was charged some portion of the stored power was pre allocated to moving the weight of the battery itself and the infrastructure in the Electric Vehicle to keep it from falling through the floor onto the roadway.
In an ideal world a battery for an Electric Vehicle would have no mass and would be weightless so that 100% of its store power could be directed to moving the vehicle and occupants from point A. to point B.
There is a formula for calculating the optimum point of diminishing returns when adding more batteries to an Electric Vehicle stops making economic sense.
Once you reach this point you then need to look at other things to try and increase range. You can remove weight by using different materials such as carbon fibre for example. You can recommend only skinny people ride in the vehicle and never carry luggage in the boot.
You can also sensibly attempt to reduce the power being directed to other functions beyond the driving wheels.
Ideally you would start by using computing that does not generate any heat as this would mean you could throw away all of the cooling jackets and fans needed to keep the computing from overheating. It would also mean the vehicles air conditioning would not need to cool air in the cabin that has been warmed by the vehicles computing infrastructure.
Ideally you would make your computing infrastructure smaller and smarter as it would reduce the weight while offering improvements in the driver experience by offering greater functionality.
Most importantly you would reduce the amount of power that your computing infrastructure needs to draw.
Keeping all this in mind remember that Brainchip and Ford are in an EAP customer relationship and that Ford is clearly committing to an Electric Vehicle future it becomes easy to understand why AKIDA technology has attracted Ford’s interest:
