Mn2019, I personally disagree here.
Intel have stated Loihi is still 5 years away. Ford have been trialling out Akida and if they're anything like NASA, its likely they're excited too.
If you've experienced the gamechanging nature of Akida, which is only worth $20 a chip, why would you hang around for a Loihi chip that's at least 10x the price and has worse performance. Then there's all the other Brainchip benefits on top like MetaTF and one shot learning etc.
Simple economics wins out here everytime. There's simply no reason spending additional money and resources on obsolete products. Ford is a large experienced company and would fully understand this. You don't get big and stay big by spending valuable time and resources on something that has a chance of being useful in 5 years time. Rather, you wait 5 years till that product is ready and them you re-evaluate. In the mean time you would have made a lot of progress with the currently better [Akida] technology and are in a better position to see if this other 5 year behind [Loihi] technology has any benefit at all. Plus in 5 years time Brainchip will have multiple more advanced Akida products so there's no reason to look elsewhere.
