Your straying into the area of what is intelligence and currently there is no way out of that area.

I read a lengthy paper trying to define it by reference to the capacity for emotions such as empathy. Then I thought of how autism can delete empathy but most people of reason would not deny a person their humanity because of the absence of empathy.

A child knows that a dog is a dog because someone has labelled it for them.

Anyway as I said there is no agreement about what intelligence actually is and I suspect that there never will be but we will have scientists, engineers, corporations and sales & marketing constantly claiming it by self interested declaration.

Personally I would like to see a movement away from the whole idea as intelligence distils for me a capacity to make the same mistake more than once and I want machines I use to work to perfection every time.
