Hibot Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President Michele Guaranieri, hereinafter "Hibot") is a self-developed robot arm "Float Arm" at the BASF Antwerp plant in Belgium, including inspection of pipe rack facilities and pressure tanks. We are pleased to announce that we have conducted a field verification test.

Float Arm is an articulated robot arm designed for inspection work for infrastructure facilities operating in narrow, dangerous and harsh environments. By having a self-weight compensation function inside, the Float Arm realizes a lightweight and compact housing compared to other companies' products, which makes it easy to disassemble, assemble and replace, and the equipment is densely packed. Above all, you can work while avoiding obstacles. In a demonstration test conducted at the BASF Antwerp Plant, we were able to demonstrate mobility to adapt to various work environments while performing visual inspections and ultrasonic thickness measurements using a camera.

As a result of the verification test, the visibility of the inspection is good (the verification test video link is shown below), and it is attracting attention from other industries including the oil plant industry. In addition, Float Arm was nominated for the SPRINT Robotics Award 2020 sponsored by SPRINT Robotics, an industry group established for the purpose of popularizing maintenance and inspection robots. In the Groundbreaking Collaborative Work Towards Acceptance of Inspection and Maintenance Robotics category, we were able to win the 1st place.
