The first use cases of neuromorphic chips are showing success

According to the “neuromorphic engineering” approach, a chip based on neuromorphic technology is to recognize the high-frequency oscillations as biomarkers . HFO detection is made possible by an algorithm that is similar to the natural neural network in the brain, also known as the Spiking Neural Network (SNN) (11). Based on the SNNs, experts from the Australian medical technology company BrainChip have launched the Akida ™ AI chip, which is currently used in the automotive industry and in cybersecurityis applied. In Europe, too, the EU-funded project TEMPO is researching the technology and hardware for neuromorphic computing with 19 partners in order to develop energy-efficient chips. In contrast to conventional computers, the innovative technology is extremely energy-saving. Calculations are possible with a high time resolution without internet or cloud computing.
