Maybe what's happening in South Africa with the latest strain is just part of the inevitable evolution of the COVID virus - if proven over the next couple of weeks to be more virulent but less harmful then possibly what will be seen is the virus gradually starting to fizzle into a common cold virus. As more people get a dose of the more virulent but less harmful strain herd immunity can be achieved and the virus gradually morphs into a cold. I remember reading somewhere a while back where this occurred with the Spanish Flu - a natural consequence. AIMO.
