Yes but,... as we know, the first bit of hardware that BRN put out was labelled an "Accelerator", if my memory serves me correctly. It did not include the stand-alone Akida chip of course.
The architecture on the Renesas Accelerator does seem to bare some resemblance to the architecture of the BRN's Akida chip, even though they are reportedly using CNNs instead of SNNs, and do not include a stand-alone "Brain-chip".
Why has Renesas now launched their own "Accelerator" for ADAS purposes? And why soon after they have struck the IP licence agreement with BRN?
It does seem slightly coincidental.
