Yes "soon" certainly is a relative term, but when used in the sentence "excited to be making some announcements soon" and knowing how the shareholders have been holding out for an announcement of significance.
It would be considered missleading if they truly didn't mean "soon" as in the very near term, especially knowing that most people would read into it as before Christmas.
Just my opinion.
