If money isn't an issue use as many sensors as you'd like. Lidar is expensive and contains delicate moving parts, it also wouldn't add anything other than redundancy (which can be achieve through using multiple cameras anyway). You only get depth info from lidar, I just don't think it is that great in terms of value for money. The car still needs to be affordable at the end of the day.

We already drive cars based on primarily vision as it is, you make it sound like it is some impossible feat. Sure add audio to the mix, presumably it is cheap enough to not significantly factor into cost budget of a vehicle. However, I don't think audio is going to be the make or break sensor input that unlocks autonomous driving.
