My understanding is that the ultimate goal is to achieve level 5 automated driving. Presumably this means you can safely do anything in the vehicle-it requires no driver input whatsoever.
The Mercedes is level 3 though not sure of the requirements to be given that status.
At the moment, Tesla has named its version as 'Autopilot'. By using this description it suggests it can do what it obviously cannot achieve, namely safely self driving.
Tesla cars seemingly being confused by emergency flashing lights is an example where Akida and one shot learning could solve a major problem.
The fact that such a basic problem seems to exist in such a so-called state of art driving technology suggests Tesla have a long way to go.
At least Mercedes are taking it step by step.
The leap might be harnessing Akida with its low power and one shot learning to solve problems before they occur.
