I don't know how it is with you in Australia, but in Germany (or the entire EU) pesticides are an increasingly common problem. There is simply a lot being put into the fields. Of course there are also many pesticides that are banned in the EU.
The funny (or rather sad) thing about the story is that it can still be exported from the EU. This means that these pesticides are sprayed abroad and through the fruit and vegetables they come back to the supermarket, even though they have been banned.

Of course, a solution like the one seen in the video above is very helpful to at least reduce pesticide consumption.

The overriding economic benefit, of reduced cost in chemicals, will be incentive enough for the farmers to adopt that kind of technology.

The consumer benefits by default..
