I think that the recent trading action may be explained by the funds (& other entities) that are permitted to purchase outside the top 300.
They know that when BRN is added to the list there will be new buyers that can only purchase ones BRN is in the 300.
So they shake the tree, lower the price and accumulate in advance of this.
