Another reason is, if they attack someone personally, they may choose to leave the forum. FF with his quickwit and wisdom have been defending pretty well, so as you said, take the strongest contributor down, then easier to meet their targets.
I remember Dolci was attacked personally a few months ago when she was posting regular updates on charts to show how BRN was in uptrend. Would have been hard to look at the bigger picture without charts.
