Your question is irrelevant to the question being discussed. It's relevant to whether or not to trade, but if someone does choose to trade, their goal is to make a lot more money than they would be investing, so pointing out a tax scenario which is not relevant to their goals is not relevant.

In the example given, the profit given for long term investors is far, far above the achievements of the average investor, but no one seems to care about that.

I can certainly say that I've made a heck of a lot more on AGY by trading it than I would have if I'd bought in and never traded. It's easy to make money trading during a bull run, but then again, if there's no bull run you're not going to make money as an investor either.
