INF wanted to build an open pit mine next to a historical medieval city, just a stone throw away from local churches, university etc. Local mayor publicly declared that the project will never happen as long as he's alive.

EMH project is a former tin mine, located in a forest. Cinovec/Dubi is not a historical town, it is basically a boring German-Czech border village. Used to be (in)famous as a getaway for the Germans with prostitution and casinos. Later the local road had been replaced by a new highway and the inflow of Germans disappeared. Now it is about as interesting and historically valuable as Bumfuck, Minnesota. There is no local opposition, it isn't open pit and it has been supported several times by the local mayor, CEZ and minister of industry. So the permission is a question of environmental impact, not politics.
