The comment that Rio is spending $26 million over an 18 month period on the Calibre deposit highlights how critical the deposit is for the future development of Winu project. This is due to its higher ore head grade, improved metallurgical treatment characteristics (gold and copper recoveries) and mine-ability relating to its shallow open pit design configuration.
Updated resources from the 2020 Q4 drilling campaign will hopefully offer us all a better insight into the geology, metallurgy and economic potential of this new Rio Tinto Winu processing plant feed source.
