The Australian media increasingly loves to sensationalise and has started to call every change in the weather a 'weather event', a 'rain event' and so on. Everything is 'unprecedented', communities are said to about be 'smashed' and bushfires this big have never been seen before according to the hyperbole employed.

The latest fixation is that the BOM is declaring a La Nina 'event' for 2022.

Extreme weather isn't ideal but it's a certainty that many graingrowers won't be affected, or only minimally so.

It'd surely be vastly preferable to have excessive rain (except at harvest time as we're seeing now in some NSW locations!) than another drought.

Plus the BOM is never 100 per cent accurate.
