Thursday 30 March 2023 must be 'Branch Line Day' for GNC.

The first train on the Dimboola to Rainbow, Victoria standard gauge line for about eight months has been loading at Rainbow.

Way northeast, at Naradhan, the terminus of a flat and uninteresting scenery-wide branch line from Ungarie, NSW, another Pacific National grain train is operating for GNC.

At Calleen (north of West Wyalong, NSW) a third grainy loaded today. The siding is in one direction only off the line, so once loaded, trains continue north a short distance to Girral to reverse direction and then operate to Cootamundra West, and mostly then use the triangle leg to go into Cootamundra Yard, and later depart for Port Kembla via Goulburn, Moss Vale and the crosscountry line to Unanderra and Port Kembla's Inner Harbour GNC facilities.

On what can be the busy Cootamundra West- Stockinbingal-Parkes NSW crosscountry line (a link between the Sydney to Melbourne and Sydney to Broken Hill lines), a fourth train has loaded today at beautifully named Quandialla. What could be more 'Australian' than that?
