I think about the below a fair bit (also copper, vanadium, titanium) - The scaling required is such a steep & unforgiving mountain to climb :
Engineering, material/fab yards, logistics getting equipment/resources/people to where it/they are needed, managing construction, commissioning, ramp/handover to ops - all in a way that is repeatable (cookie cutter) & continuously improves.
Finding & proving the resource, selecting/developing a process to value add.
That is all fine, but what we have seen here is how important the Enviro (NTEPA)/(Access to water, water waste), Social (CLC, local business owners dependent on the health of the harbour & amateur fisherman), Governance (um where do I start) are showstoppers.
Another example of this would be Origin & Beetaloo.
It is those things which IMO, need drastic improvement & if the high profile projects get it wrong this makes a mess of it, so much harder for everyone else.
That what I think is at stake.
