Oldies like me made great gains by paying the house off early. In those days, the housing interest rate was over 14% …and I slogged to get the house loan paid off in 3 years. It was hard, very hard, it nearly killed me but well worth it to be debt free for the rest of my life. Interest rates are a different matter now and you may think differently.
