The ARM model seems to have been highly successful but perhaps a random anonymous posters opinion out weights known provable facts.
Licensing IP and royalties is a time honoured guaranteed road to riches if you are clever enough to invent the right product at the right time and sophisticated enough to properly protect it with patent walls.
