I have read all the advice you received today and the only superannuation law I can claim knowledge is that which applies to myself. Based on that knowledge some of the information is on its face incorrect.
You are setting up a structure for the rest of your life so get the best advice available before you act.
Recently my wife and her brother were being told by a number of people who could claim some expertise that they would be liable to pay GST of some tens of thousands of dollars.
I did some research based on what I considered to be a logical approach to their circumstances and found a ruling from the ATO which made it clear they were not liable. Their accountant and solicitor presented with the full facts and the ruling agreed.
But I am still buying her the diamond but as someone famous on the Liberal side of politics once said ‘life wasn’t meant to be easy’. LOL
