BTW, I wouldn't be overly concerned about that bit of news about the Loihi going into orbit. If one reads the article carefully, one will see that "The TechEdSat flight series involves university interns and early career aerospace professionals."

That tells me that these are for educational and research purposes, and as we currently know, Loihi is still being used for research. NASA spent USD 50,000 on the Early Access Program at the end of 2020. In June of 2021, Brainchip and Vorago entered an EAP collaboration where the intent was to create a radiation-hardened version of the Akida technology to "support a Phase I NASA program for a neuromorphic processor that meets spaceflight requirements".

Vorago, of course, is a supplier for NASA. While the article about TechEdSat mentions Lohi as being the first orbital flight of a neuromorphic processor, it appears to be to use autonomous navigation for reclamation of satellite tech for appropriate disposal.

I still feel as if Akida is going to play a bigger role in NASA's plans.
