I'm not sure if the ADRs just really aren't that well known yet or people would prefer to have the actual underlying stock. I have been buying a few at a time as I get a little bit of money to set aside with the intent to hold it for the short term.
The one benefit is that I don't have to pay the $50 foreign transaction fee through my broker. However, it is comforting to know that the ADR price usually tracks with the underlying stock price through arbitrage, so for those who have friends in the US, make them aware of this option.
Then again, if they want to be a long-term holder of the actual stock, BRCHF might be their preferred choice.
