"After Friday's close, S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that Brainchip would join the prestigious S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX:XJO) on June 20.
Brainchip's promotion comes as part of the index's quarterly update, which adds three more companies and removes five.
Why is this a big deal?Aside from qualitative fame, membership in the ASX 200 can boost stock price.This is because passive funds that follow the index are forced to buy the stock.
The short-term spike in demand may push the price higher, but fund managers will still be forced to buy Brainchip shares."
