The South Australian Government has directed Marathon Resources to prepare and submit a Rectification Plan for the remediation of unauthorised waste disposal sites, by May 30th. In the first instance, the company will be required to:

• Engage an independent expert to develop the Rectification Plan.
• Remove all general waste, plastic bags, cardboard boxes, plastic and steel drums and move to a licensed waste storage site outside the lease area and Arkaroola.
• Safely remove all mineral samples from bags and drums and re-bury the drill cuttings and assay samples under two metres of clean and compacted soil within the same or similar geological and soil formations (in other words at Mt Gee).
• Rehabilitate all sites.
• Undertake site remediation of the damaged fluorite occurrence.

Now lets look at what potential impacts may be caused by this proposal and devise some appropriate penalties for .

Just the beginning for the environmental movement but probably nearing the end for MTN.
