DP - days to cover is a ratio of shorts versus average daily volume. "Days to cover is calculated by taking the quantity of shares that are currently sold short and dividing that amount by the stock's average daily trading volume." It gives a feel for how stuck shorters might be if they need to cover their positions - it doesn't have anything to do with when they actually have to do so.
I think I saw someone's postearlier that said the shorts had dropped over the last few days from about 60million to 25million - so may be part of the largervolumes over the past few days.
