In my understanding (happy to be corrected), a cup and handle CAN form over such a long range BUT the longer it goes, the less likely it is to play out. The number of shares on issue in now a lot higher than the previous peak for one thing, so SP and MC don't relate the same as they did at the start of the "cup".

It could also frame up better over such a long term on a monthly chart rather than weekly or daily, like a map of Britain's coastline works better measured in kilometres than in metres or centimetres. It's arguably all the same data but much more useful when measured at the right scale. We measure temperature in 100 points between freezing and boiling because it's useful, far more so than if there were only 4 points between freezing and boiling, but in a lot of fields they add a decimal place or two to make 1000 or 10000 points between the two because it's significant in, say, chemistry, but for the weatherman to say it's a mild 2156 is splitting it a bit fine.
